Houston Toy Company Recalls Fake Teeth For Lead Risk

Comments Off

The Houston based Funtastic has issued a recall of about
26,000 sets of fake teeth after discovering that surface paint on the teeth
violates lead paint standards. The fake teeth, called “Hillbilly Teeth,” may have
been purchased from just about anywhere over the past few years. The recalled Hillbilly Teeth were sold at grocery stores, drug stores, convenience stores, and mass
retailers from March 2005 to March of this year for about two dollars. The
recall only applies to a 2-pack of teeth with the item #2657.

No injuries have been reported in association with this
recall, but a product of this nature should particularly concern consumers. The
fact that the teeth were placed in the mouth provides a much greater chance of
ingestion of the tainted paint. Any affected item should be immediately taken
away from children to reduce the risk of exposure. Consumers can contact
Funtastic at (800) 434-5207 for more information and information on receiving a
refund.
