Magnetic Learning Boards Recalled

Comments Off

Magnetic learning boards manufactured and sold by Lakeshore Learning Materials have been recalled because they pose a choking and possible intestinal perforation hazard to children.

Lakeshore has received ten reports of magnets detaching from wands used to move pieces around the boards. While there have been no reported injuries it is extremely important that parents immediately take the recalled items away from their children and contact Lakeshore for a free replacement product.

Several different types of activity boards are being recalled so it is imperative for parents to make sure that they are not in possession of any of the recalled products.

The recalled boards were sold at Lakeshore Learning stores nationwide and online at www.lakeshorelearning.com from January 2009 through May 2010 for between $30 and $40. The recalled activity boards are made of wood and have a maze inside that metal or wooden pieces can be moved around in. A plastic cover keeps these pieces safely inside. A wand with a magnetic tip is attached to the outside of the box which allows children to move the objects inside around the maze. The magnet in the tip of the wand can become loose and detach, posing serious risk to children if ingested.
