Injury, lawsuits confirm Pradaxa bleeding risk

Comments Off

“Pradaxa can cause bleeding which can be serious, and sometimes lead to death. This is because Pradaxa is a blood thinner medicine that lowers the chance of blood clots forming in your body.”

That warning was excerpted from the Medication Guide revised in May that was approved by the Food and Drug Administration and distributed by Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc., the maker of Pradaxa (dabigatran etexilate mesylate).

Validating that warning were the results of a clinical trial comprised of more than 6,000 Pradaxa patients whose treatment included taking Pradaxa for an average 20 months. The bottom line is contained in a January report.

One-fifth of the participants had to stop taking 150 mg of Pradaxa twice daily. “The most frequent adverse reactions leading to discontinuation of PRADAXA were bleeding and gastrointestinal events,” reads a summary of the findings.

Of course, the clinical trial results are numbers on a page; they are important and cautionary numbers.

Nevertheless, the people who have been injured by their exposure to the drug bestow the breath of life to Pradaxa adverse-reaction figures.

The pharmaceutical litigation attorneys at Reich & Binstock have heard their accounts, have become their advocates, and accordingly have filed Pradaxa lawsuits on behalf of suffering patients reflected by those numbers on a page.

Pursuing justice for their bleeding and other conditions stemming from their protracted exposure to Pradaxa, the experienced attorneys at Reich & Binstock work hard to give their clients in Pradaxa lawsuits the numbers on a page that they deserve — the recoverable damages justified by their misery and by the empirically and personally authenticated internal bleeding and hemorrhaging risks of taking Pradaxa.

Pradaxa’s “warnings and precautions” in January were revised to saliently convey the risks.

Revising a warning based on Pradaxa risks is one thing. Relieving the suffering that arises from the fulfillment of those risks is demonstrably not so simple. Nevertheless, the Pradaxa lawyers of Reich & Binstock devote nearly 30 years of experience to pursuing the compensation to which damaged Pradaxa patients are entitled.
