Army Reopening Infant Death Investigation over Chinese Drywall Concerns

Comments Off

The U.S. Army is reopening an investigation of ten unexplained infant deaths at Fort Bragg to determine if there could be any link between the deaths and Chinese-made drywall.

Initial testing conducted at the home where one infant died returned results consistent with the presence of Chinese drywall; however, subsequent testing preformed under different parameters determined that the home did not contain toxic drywall.

The Army’s Criminal Investigation Command says it will investigate why the testing parameters where changed preform additional testing.

The Army has enlisted the help of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to look at all of the possibilities.

For now the families must wait for answers. Army investigators have said that they will release as much initial testing information as possible, but have also stressed that the results of more conclusive long term testing may not be available until February.
