Houston: Seventh Smoggiest City

The American Lung Association has released their 2010 "State of the Air" report on dangerous air pollution and once again Los Angeles tops the charts. As matter of fact the California, takes 8 of the top 10 spots for the smoggiest metro areas, with Houston, TX and Charlotte, NC being the only exceptions.

Houston ranks 7th on the ozone or smog chart with an ozone grade of F. On average Houston experiences 77 days of orange ozone alerts each year which can pose a threat to sensitive populations.

28.9 million Americans live in counties where the outdoor air failed all three tests covered in the State of the Air report.
