The U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission has announced the recall of OKK Trading company’s Baby Necessity pacifiers due to a choking risk. These recalled pacifiers failed federal safety tests when the nipple separated from the base. This separation can pose a significant choking hazard for young children and therefore have been banned under federal law.

About 2,900 pacifiers are included in the recall. The recalled pacifiers feature a blue heart-shaped mouth guard and translucent rubber nipples. The Chinese made Baby Necessity pacifiers were sold in packages of four at various dollar and discount stores throughout the nation for about a dollar. The recalled pacifiers were sold between August of 2007 and January of 2009.

Parents with children using these pacifiers should immediately take the product away from the child and contact OKK Trading for a refund or an exchange. Consumers affected by this recall can get additional information by vistiting the OKK Trading Website or contacting the company toll free at (877) 655-8697.
