A Michigan woman has filed suit against a Beaumont apartment complex over injuries she suffered when tripping and falling over a broken step at the complex.
The plaintiff, Agnes Standoak, claims that while leaving her niece’s home at Calder West Apartments in Beaumont, she fell down a flight of stairs. She claims the fall was caused by a broken step in the unlit stairway of the complex.
Standoak is suing for alleged lost wages, impairment, medical expenses, and past and future mental anguish.
The defendants are accused of failing to inspect and maintain the property in a reasonable safe condition.
