A personal injury lawsuit has been filed against the International House of Pancakes after David Vardaman tripped over rolled up mats shortly after entering the restaurant causing him to be injured. The lawsuit alleges that the mats were carelessly placed on the premises. David and his wife are suing the pancake giant seeking to recover past and future medical expenses in addition to mental anguish and pain.
According to the plaintiffs’ original petition, filed with the Jefferson County District Court on Nov. 14, the incident occurred on Nov. 21, 2006. The suit also names IHOP manager Abdallah Atiyeh as defendant.
The suit does not list the nature of Vardaman’s injuries, however; it claims that the defendants were grossly negligent and distributed blatant disregard for the health and safety of others.
